Meet Roscoe, a rather magnificent pet praying mantis with a face full of personality!
I met Roscoe’s owner at the National Insect Expo in Woodend, where she kindly shared a photograph of him and gave me permission to paint his portrait.
Those extraordinary eyes were impossible to resist!
Painted in oils, Roscoe is brought to life through bold, expressive brushstrokes and a playful mix of pinks, oranges, yellows and blues. I wanted to capture his quirky personality while letting colour and movement do the talking.
This fine art print is reproduced from my original oil painting, capturing all the colour, texture and character of Roscoe.
