This painting was inspired by a conversation while I was hanging work at Augustus Gelatery. A customer came in for gelato and mentioned she’d just bought a book from Bookish about the Monaro Grassland Earless Dragon — which stuck with me and led to this piece.
I focused on the warmth and texture of the scene, keeping parts of the painting loose and letting the light do most of the work, especially around the head.
